Taylor Phillips is a writer, director & editor, born in the Bay Area and based in Los Angeles and London, with a lifelong passion for movies. He wrote, directed, edited and composed the score for the 2017 feature romantic comedy film I'M TRYING TO IMPRESS YOU, and the upcoming short thriller film, THE TALL DARK MAN, which is currently being developed into a feature. During his tenure as the Story Editor at The Kennedy / Marshall Company, he helped develop films in the TWISTERS, JURASSIC WORLD and INDIANA JONES film franchises, and has directed music videos for StaG and Mark Battles. Additionally, he has written screenplays for such companies as Platinum Dunes, The Wonder Company and Docutainment Films, including horror comedy BASH and inspirational period sports drama SNOWMAN: THE CINDERELLA HORSE.

He spent his childhood making shorts and skate videos with friends on the home video camera, before working at a video store all through his teen years, developing his knowledge of film history, and in a movie theater during his time in film school at UC Santa Cruz. There, he wrote and directed the acclaimed short film, TOO LOVELY TO LAST. Also a musician, he’s composed and performed scores for several of his films and others’, and credits his musicality for his fluid and rhythmic editing work. He is passionate about creating exciting and dynamic imagery for film, music videos and commercials, and writing crowd-pleasing screenplays across genres.
